His history almost four decades, with hundreds of wins and 26 World Titles. To this day, he dominates the sport and is known as one of the honorable, strongest, yet intense opponents at the table. A natural from the beginning, he started arm wrestling in 1979, winning his first World Championship three years later at 23 years old. He moved on quickly in his career, traveling to several countries and eventually winning first place in Sylvester Stallone's movie "Over the Top". “I remember the euphoria I felt when I beat Tony Golden and won the competition that I found myself setting on top of the arm wrestling!”
Allen has been exposed to a plethora of media coverage: Wide World of Sports, ESPN, CNN, and many talk shows. He single-handedly started the only arm wrestling training camp in the world and has trained hundred who are now competing in tournaments using his tactics and strategies. Allen has a popular nickname that caught on because of his signature look: a shaved head and a right arm bigger than his left, many began to call him “Popeye.” He is also known as “Mr. Intensity”.
Now, Allen has the honor of being a main character on AMC’s Game of Arms: a look inside the raw and highly competitive world of American arm wrestling. The series hails from the Emmy Award-winning producers of Deadliest Catch. At the age of 59, Allen traveled around the country to compete in four World Arm Wrestling League Championships, going undefeated before taking second place in the final match, which aired on ESPN. Presently at the age of 61 he continues to be a force to be reckoned with. Allen “Popeye” Fisher looks forward to the growth of arm wrestling as a sport and, of course, his anticipation of dominating each challenge that comes his way. He and his wife Carolyn, a 5-time world champion, are sought-after speakers.
